Setting The Record Straight AboutBrig. General Mark Kimmitt 12-7-2004
Reports have been surfacing since October that Brig. General Mark Kimmitt, assigned to US Coalition Forces, had been killed in action, in Iraq. General Kimmitt achieved worldwide notoriety as the military spokesman (media) for the US forces in Iraq. Doing some Internet searching, I discovered the following information, and am at a loss as to why www.trackingterrorism.com did not report this news article, (from a credible source), but instead let its readers assume that General Kimmitt was quite possibly killed in action, based on reports from the Jihadi forums. It appears that General Kimmitt has been out of Iraq for quite a few months now, and safe and sound in the United States. On July 27, 2004, the Associated Press reported that General Kimmitt, "said farewell to his artillery command at Fort Bragg and is preparing to move to a new assignment at U.S. Central Command in Florida." Initially, on October 7, 2004, www.trackingterrorism.com posted the following: " In what seems to be obvious rhetoric coming from Islamic Militants today, they're claiming that they have killed 4 Senior American Generals including General Kimmitt and that is the reason why the Americans are taking it so hard to Samarra City. Obviously this statement from the Islamic Insurgents is just a way to help boost their troop morale, because indeed it is not true." Then on November 29, 2004, another report was posted stating the following: "
As
reports
came

ago
that
General

There

If any readers can prove the Associated Press story is inaccurate, please email me at jillstclaire@sbcglobal.net and I will be happy to post the proof on this site, and contact the Associated Press for a retraction of their original story! - Jill
