"[The national security] threat is still terrorism. In fact, we have received reports that [some] Indonesians in the country are plotting suicide bombings . . . [by detonating] 1,000 kilos of super bomb," Mayo told the committee chaired by Rep. Rolando Andaya of Camarines Sur. When asked what the "super bomb" was, retired Gen. Cesar Garcia, director general of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, explained that the terrorists have manufactured "an improvised explosive device targeting the US Embassy and other areas representing US interests." "Following the Valentine's Day bombing [in 2004], the intelligence community has intensified its efforts against terrorists . . . their [terrorists' operations] are still ongoing, and not yet neutralized," Garcia said. The Department of National Defense earlier confirmed that 33 members of the Jemaah Islamiah have been operating in the Philippines "since 2004," and that all were Indonesians. The group, called the "Wakalah Hedeibiah," is allegedly led by a certain "Mantiqui 3," the DND said in a briefing paper submitted to Andaya's panel. The terrorist group, which is believed to be responsible for the bombing of the Indonesian holiday island of Bali, has been tagged as the Southeast Asian arm of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network. It was reported to have links with Mindanao-based armed groups. I find it odd that Al Jazeera has a 'Code of Ethics" posted on their website, yet blatantly, and publicly ignore the standards that they have set for themselves. I am curious to see if they will make a pubic statement as to why they censored that video and excluded the fact that Al Zawaheri considered Britain's Queen Elizabeth an enemy of Islam!
