8/29/2006 If this Washington Post article is true, then I, as a US citizen, am deeply troubled and am in disbelief!!!!! Jill Rumsfeld Unsure
of Ability To Intercept Korean Missiles From News Services FORT GREELY, Alaska, Aug. 27 -- After his first look inside the nerve center of the U.S. missile defense system, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld on Sunday sounded a note of caution about expectations that interceptors poised in 10 underground silos here would work in the event of a missile attack by North Korea. Asked at a news conference whether he believed the missile shield was ready for use against a North Korean missile like the one test-fired unsuccessfully on July 4, Rumsfeld said he would not be fully convinced until the multibillion-dollar defense system has undergone more complete and realistic testing. "A full end-to-end" demonstration is needed, Rumsfeld said, "where we actually put all the pieces" of the highly complex and far-flung missile defense system together and see whether it would succeed in destroying a warhead in flight. Rumsfeld also said North Korea does not pose a military threat to South Korea, calling Pyongyang more of a danger as a distributor of weapons to other countries and perhaps terrorists. "I think the real threat that North Korea poses in the immediate future is more one of proliferation than a danger to South Korea," he said. Rumsfeld said it is clear that the overall condition of the North Korean military has deteriorated. Later Sunday, Rumsfeld met with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Ivanov. They discussed the Middle East and Afghanistan, as well as Russian concerns about an announced U.S. plan to remove nuclear warheads from some Trident long-range missiles aboard submarines and replace them with conventional warheads for potential use on short notice against terrorist targets. Note From Jill On The Above Article: Now, according to the White House website, this is Defense Secretary Rumsfield's opening paragraph in his bio: "Donald H. Rumsfeld was sworn in as the 21st Secretary of Defense on January 20, 2001. Before assuming his present post, the former Navy pilot had also served as the 13th Secretary of Defense, White House Chief of Staff, U.S. Ambassador to NATO, U.S. Congressman and chief executive officer of two Fortune 500 companies." Mr. Rumsfield, if this Washington Post article is factual....Sir, I suggest that you invest a little more time in making adequate military defense systems to protect our Homeland. IF this article is correct, then what you have said is that you do not know if the United States can protect its citizens from a missile attack, from missiles such as the ones that North Korea is trying to successfully test....This has to be some kind of joke....YOU have been the Secretary of Defense since 2001, as well as the Secretary of Defense under President Ford, and this is the first time that you have looked inside the nerve center of the US missile defense system? Folks, it is not just North Korea that we are talking about here, it is any country that decides to launch a missile attack on the United States homeland....the Secretary of Defense is not making any promises that our missile defense system will even work!!! God help us all!
8/16/2006 Rakan Bin Williams Exposed: by Laura Mansfield and Jill St. Clair In November, Global Islamic Media Front posted a message describing the individual who would carry out the next wave of Al Qaeda attacks against the United States and Europe. The posting called this fictional Al Qaeda foot soldier "Rakan Bin Williams". Since that initial posting in November, there have been a number of additional posts purportedly from Rakan Bin Williams, all threatenng attacks against the west by a new soldier who would be a European or American-born Muslim convert. Efforts to identify "Rakan Bin Williams" have been fruitless; until now, the concensus opinion of analysts has been that Rakan Bin Williams is a label for the new generation of Al Qaeda terrorist.. At first glance, many of those arrested in the London terror probe bear striking similarities to the description of Rakan Bin Williams. Was one of these individuals the inspiration for Rakan Bin Williams? Possibly. However, another possibility must be considered. What if Rakan Bin Williams isn't a person? What if Rakan Bin Williams is the code name for the group, a group of cells or even the operation itself, instead of the name of one person? In the original Arabic postings, in many instances the name "Rakan Bin Williams" and its associated pronounces are refered to in the "plural" sense, as "they" or "them".
The description of Rakan Bin Williams quite accurately describes the group that has been linked to the plot to blow at least 12 airlines from the skies last week. Among those arrested were Muslim converts, including at least two who were Roman Catholic. Some were of Pakistani origin, born and raised in the UK; others had a mother, father or both parents of European descent. These terrorists, as Al Qaeda promised, had been educated in the schools of the UK. Many were former church goers. To all appearances they had assimilated well into the British society. Yet they were involved in a plot to kill hundreds or thousands of their fellow countrymen. The second Rakan Bin Williams post says:
Was the London operation phase one (or even part of phase one) of a two-phase attack? Is another attack in the planning stages for the US? If we are to believe Osama Bin Laden, the answer is "Yes". In January 2006, a taped message from Bin Laden promised the following: It's only a matter of time. They are in the planning stages, and you will see them in the heart of your land as soon as the planning is complete.
Early reports indicated that there may be links between this cell and people currently in the United States. This isn't surprising. The post describing Rakan Bin Williams told us that last November:

But Al Qaeda brought them in and they embraced Islam and hid their Muslim religion and soaked up the Al Qaeda thought and promised Allah that they will carry the flag of their distance brothers and seek vengence on the evil doers. They blend into the streets of Europe and the streets of America and they plan and watch and observe. Are you ready to meet them, Blair? But are you ready to meet them, George W. Bush? The men were arrested Friday in Caro, which is in the Thumb area of Michigan, after a Wal-Mart employee contacted the authorities. The clerk was suspicious of the men because they had purchased 80 TracFones, which are sold with pre-paid minutes and are difficult to monitor.Some authorities have expressed concern that people plotting or supporting terrorism might use multiple mobile phones to make their calling patterns harder to track. The Wal-Mart store's policy is to sell a maximum of three of the phones at a time, police said. Officers arrested the men with nearly 1,000 of the phones. The men told officers they planned to resell the phones to a wholesaler in Texas.Earlier this week, two men from Dearborn were arrested with about 600 of the phones in Marietta, Ohio. Those men also face terrorism-related charges.

by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff Announcing a Change to the
Nation’s Threat Level for the Aviation Sector For Immediate Release The Department of Homeland Security is taking immediate steps to increase security measures in the aviation sector in coordination with heightened security precautions in the United Kingdom. Over the last few hours, British authorities have arrested a significant number of extremists engaged in a substantial plot to destroy multiple passenger aircraft flying from the United Kingdom to the United States. Currently, there is no indication, however, of plotting within the United States. We believe that these arrests have significantly disrupted the threat, but we cannot be sure that the threat has been entirely eliminated or the plot completely thwarted. For that reason, the United States Government has raised the nation’s threat level to Severe, or Red, for commercial flights originating in the United Kingdom bound for the United States. This adjustment reflects the Critical, or highest, alert level that has been implemented in the United Kingdom. To defend further against any remaining threat from this plot, we will also raise the threat level to High, or Orange, for all commercial aviation operating in or destined for the United States. Due to the nature of the threat revealed by this investigation, we are prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, hair gels, and lotions from being carried on the airplane. This determination will be constantly evaluated and updated when circumstances warrant. These changes will take effect at 4:00 AM local time across the country. Travelers should also anticipate additional security measures within the airport and at screening checkpoints. These measures will continue to assure that our aviation system remains safe and secure. Travelers should go about their plans confidently, while maintaining vigilance in their surroundings and exercising patience with screening and security officials.
