US closed consulate in East Saudi Dahran on second day of battles between Saudi security forces and al Qaeda terrorists in Eastern oil town of Dammam The clashes began Sunday, Sept 4, on a busy street where many Western oil firms have offices in the city 400 km northeast of Riyadh. Several terrorists and Saudi troops were killed. Police evacuated residents from several buildings before surrounding the building where the terrorists are holed up. Sporadic fire continues Monday as Saudi forces bring in bulldozers and heavy equipment before storming the building.
